I'm sure this has been discovered before, probably documented as well but I couldn't find it at a quick glance.

It's not a full proof way of getting unlimited rolls but it's more efficient than doing it solo and depending on your luck, the additional rolls you generate by using the slot machines in this way can very well give you that extra roll that gives you the thing you want. Unless you do an insane amount of rolls the ability to do as much rolls helps in gaining more stuff be it Eridium or Legendary weapons is beneficial. The weapons we can sell back to a vending machine to increase our currency and 'gain' more rolls. We can get weapons too or nothing at all (or a nade). What else can we get? The legendary is always valuable. It's simply a very efficient way to 'gain' rolls. This is a loop that can go on forever however you don't always get currency. So for the cost of 4 rolls you get 4 rolls back. Meaning all 4 players can do an additional roll. He gets back 4 currency and the other characters each gain 4 currency as well. This then equals out to 4 currency which is the same as the roll and you have not lost any currency on the roll when you take the players as a combined entity. But the other 3 players also get 1 currency back. This allows one player to farm Currency for others.If a player uses the slot machine and gets Currency then all the other characters gain the same amount of Currency. With the byproduct of this alone being more efficient than solo since more Eridium is created in total. This allows one player to farm Eridium for the others.So if a player uses the slot machine and gets Eridium then all the other characters gain the same amount of Eridium.
